The Verdon in private
The Verdon offers a striking contrast with the coast: mountain roads, limestone cliffs, turquoise water and stone villages. Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is a natural stop for walking and lunch before reaching gorge viewpoints and Lake Sainte-Croix.
The Valensole plateau can complete the route, but lavender fields are colourful only for a limited period that varies by year and plot. Distances require a morning departure and a realistic programme adapted to weather and visitor levels.
Essential sights
A varied day through farmland, a characterful village, the gorge and lake.
Open landscapes and local producers line the plateau; lavender remains a strictly seasonal experience.
Set beneath the cliffs, the village offers stone lanes, workshops and an enjoyable lunch stop.
Viewpoints reveal the canyon’s cliffs and relief from roads accessible according to the planned route.
Turquoise water and the lakeshore provide a final pause before the return drive to Nice.
