Why go
Cannes is first of all a bay: La Croisette and its palm trees on one side, the hill of Le Suquet on the other, and the Lérins Islands floating just offshore. Between them, the Palais des Festivals is a reminder that the city lives to the rhythm of major international gatherings, from the Cannes Film Festival in spring to trade events such as MIPIM and Cannes Lions. The rest of the year, people come for the sea, the market and the light.
Everything can be explored on foot, but traffic and parking quickly become difficult in high season or during events. With a private driver you are dropped at the Old Port or as close as possible to your hotel, with no space to hunt for, and you can extend the day to Antibes, Mougins or Grasse, or stay for dinner and return to Nice without driving.
What to see in Cannes
A day is enough to see them all without rushing; we adjust the order to your arrival time and the season.
01 · THE PROMENADE
The boulevard follows the bay from the Palais des Festivals to the Pointe de la Croisette, between beaches, palm trees and the façades of grand hotels such as the Carlton and the Martinez. Best walked early in the morning or at sunset.
02 · CINEMA LEGEND
Every spring the Cannes Film Festival rolls out its red carpet on these steps. The rest of the year the Palais hosts congresses and trade fairs. Just beside it, the Allée des Étoiles keeps the handprints of many film personalities.
03 · THE OLD TOWN
The historic quarter climbs the hill through cobbled lanes. At the top, the medieval tower, the former castle now home to a museum and the church of Notre-Dame-d'Espérance share one of the finest views of the bay, La Croisette and the islands.
04 · THE LIVING HEART
At the foot of Le Suquet, fishing boats sit alongside yachts. Two streets away, the covered Forville market brings together greengrocers, fishmongers and local producers each morning: the best place to feel the Cannes of the people who live here.
05 · OUT TO SEA
A short boat crossing from the Old Port leads to Sainte-Marguerite, with its pine woods and the Fort Royal where the Man in the Iron Mask was held, then to Saint-Honorat, where Cistercian monks keep the Lérins Abbey and its vineyards alive.

Saloon or van depending on your group. We take the motorway, or the seafront road through Antibes and Golfe-Juan if you prefer the coastal route.
09:45 · OLD PORT
Drop-off at the Old Port. Browse the stalls of Forville market, then walk up the lanes of Le Suquet to the tower and its panorama over the bay.
11:30 · LÉRINS ISLANDS
Boat from the Old Port, a walk through the pine woods, a visit to the Fort Royal and lunch on the island. Saint-Honorat and its abbey as an alternative.
16:00 · LA CROISETTE
Back on the mainland: a photo on the steps, the Allée des Étoiles, then La Croisette on foot. Your driver meets you at the agreed point further along the boulevard.
18:30 · NICE
Possible variation: dinner in Cannes and a late return, or a stop in Antibes or Mougins on the way back.

Practical information
During major events, security perimeters surround the Palais and part of La Croisette. Your driver drops you at the closest permitted point to your hotel or appointment.
Boats to Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat leave from the Old Port, with more crossings in season. Check the time of the last return boat before agreeing the pickup with your driver.
MIPIM in March, the Cannes Film Festival in May and Cannes Lions in June fill hotels and roads. Book your driver as soon as your dates are confirmed.
April to June and September to October for mild weather and soft light. In July and August, start early: La Croisette and the island boats are calmer in the morning.
The old quarter's lanes are steep, partly cobbled and ill-suited to cars. Wear comfortable shoes; drop-off is at the bottom of the hill, on the Old Port side.
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is the usual gateway to Cannes. Share your flight, terminal T1 or T2, luggage and the exact address of your hotel or residence.
